Dear Shane,
I read an article on CNN Politics, caught an interview on GodTube, heard you preach on YouTube, and bought your book, Jesus for President. From all of this, I conclude that you are a passionate young man.
Yet, like the young Apollo (Acts 19:26), your gospel message is off. And how sad it is for the Body of Christ that a Priscilla and Aquila twosome have not been able to take you aside and explain the way of God more accurately to you. Maybe some have tried. Maybe your ears have tuned them out. I do not know. But what I do know is that your message brings bondage to its listeners rather than liberty.
Now, you are on tour and heading toward California, a state that desperately needs liberty and not more bondage. You will be in San Francisco on July 11, Fresno on July 12, and Los Angeles on July 13.
Your writings contain many mentions about Old Testament prophets and how they confronted governments and evil in their times with words from God. So, here’s my challenge to you:
Let’s you and I face off in an Elijah-like duel on one of your nights in California. No debating. No preaching. No teaching. No arguing. Just the two of us standing on the stage in front of the crowd asking God to confirm which of our messages He approves of. Yours or mine.
Now if God’s fire falls on you, you win. If nothing happens, you win. But if God’s fire happens to fall on me with miracles, signs, and wonders, I won’t need to tell you anything, will I? You’ll know, just like the Israelites knew when the fire fell on Elijah’s sacrifice.
So, what do you say? You’re a radical, right? So am I.
Sincerely yours,
Larry Who
